Portal www.jaunatneslietas.lv

On 29 of November 2007 was opened youth information portal www.jaunatneslietas.lv (youth affairs) by Ministry for Children, Family and Integration Affairs.

Problems that was aimed to be solved by developing youth information portal: 1) Information available for young people is fragmented in Latvia; 2) According to the results of a survey young people lacks information and also if it is possible to obtain it, then it is dispersed by a variety of information sources.

Main objective was a need to establish a unified information system to provide young people with quality, timely, comprehensive, holistic, and their interests and needs relevant information to support young people's initiatives and to provide them with the necessary tools to problem-solving.

Portal contains every day updated information on current events in youth policy, youth policy matters, different projects, youth organization and youth affairs coordinator data base, possibilities to say opinions and recommendations to involved in youth policy implementation, as well there is ensured possibility to feedback between portal users and Ministry.

Portal www.jaunatneslietas.lv serves for youngsters as guide where on one spot wide range information is available regarding youth policy, besides there is gathered information and links for young people to access necessary and interested information such as employment, education, participation, culture, sport, etc. Additionally there is created youth organization data base with communication possibilities and different innovations for ensuring easy usage; Now there is registered 71 youth organization.

One of main innovations and achievements in information field is within the portal www.jaunatneslietas.lv created local youth policy interactive map, where each can find youth initiative centres, local youth affair coordinators, child and youth centres and leisure time centres in Latvia (available in latvian version of portal). Especially successful is convenient operational menu mechanism with which one can find in map the closest leisure time utilization possibilities as well as youth affairs coordinators and directly communicate.

According to decree on 6th of May 2009 by Cabinet of Ministers No.281 „On Ministry of Children, Family and Integration Affairs" point No.2.2.1. and decree on 29th of May 2009 by Cabinet of Ministers No.359 „On reorganization of Ministry of Children, Family and Integration Affairs" point No.2. Ministry of Education and Science from 1st of July 2009 take over from Ministry of Children, Family and Integration Affairs function of development of state policy in youth field.
